This is one of the most common customer questions asked, when people are considering which unit to buy, the R4 DS or the M3 DS simply.

There's actually a really easy answer to this dilema, and one that requires some reading. We'll go with the quick and easy answer (not because we dislike updating our blog, but because this is in fact the best way to explain it)

You can buy either the R4 DS or the M3 DS Simply and at the end of the day, you'll have a unit in your hands that has EXACTLY the same features as the other. You'll be able to achieve exactly the same things with either the R4 DS or the M3 DS Simply.

Both of these units are manufactured at the same factory (and by the same people?) The R4 DS being VERY popular in China (but it does come with English menu's, etc.. in case you're wondering) while the M3 DS Simply is more famous around the world, due to the popularity of the M3 Adapter series for GBA.

In fact, in taking a very close look at both the R4 DS and the M3 DS Simply one can notice immediately that the menu selections and the features are exactly the same. With the exception of a different logo, and a different skin on the main menu (which can easily be changed) all options and selections are in exactly the same place. In fact, when you load up a game, the same "Loading Game" screen is present, with the progress bar, etc...

So in choosing which unit you want to buy, you can just as easily make the decision by which package you like better, what logo looks better to you, what name sounds "cooler".... because the reaity is, either one of the two will perform and function exactly the same as the other one. You'll not lose or gain any features or functions at all.

For our visitors who don't know, the R4DS is exactly the same as the M3 DS Simply. Same size, same features, even the same menu system and prompts are present in both units. Going beyond that is that fact that both the R4DS and the M3 DS Simply are manufactured in the same factory, by the same people. Which means that all of the internal parts and components are exactly the same.

The difference being that the R4 DS quite often has updates to their firmware / OS a few days before the M3 DS Simply. This could be because it has a bigger following perhaps in Asia, or simply that this is just how the two different "brands" have decided to go at it.

In taking a close look at both the R4 DS menu screens and the M3 DS Simply menus Screens, you can clearly see that all of the same features and options are present, and exactly the same, in both unit. With the expecption of some different graphics, and of course the R4 DS logo instead of the M3 DS Logo on the screen of your Nintendo DS console.
